I think life has many stages whose purposes may not always be clear right away.
I guess it’s much better if life unfolds one step at a time instead of stealing the excitement for us.
It’s scary. I know. You want to have all things figured out, and the moment you settle down for something, you immediately start questioning yourself: Is this it? Is this all there is? I want more. I am not happy. This is not what I expected. I still need a few things more to be finally accomplished in life.
Well, let me tell you a secret – you can rarely have all the things you want.
Because you can rarely have it all, does it mean you should rarely be happy?
There will always be something that’s missing, but that’s the catch – not having it all and still be happy and fulfilled. We have to learn how to enjoy what we have and avoid comparing ourselves to others. It doesn’t matter if someone has a higher salary than you or if someone has had more luck in love than you. You have to do things for yourself. If you compete, compete with yourself.
I think we often forget that everything happens for a reason and that there is a reason why you’re still single or why you still haven’t found the right career for you. There is a reason why some people have hurt us or left us, or why we have grown apart from our childhood friends.
There is a reason why we had to go through some battles alone. Life (and I know this sounds clichéd, but when you think about it, it’s true) teaches us lessons, thus making us stronger, bolder and more decisive than ever. So, everything that has happened to you has led you to this stage and that’s where you are supposed to be.
Every stage in life has a lot to teach you and a lot to give you, just be patient. Wait out. You are free. Free to explore, to choose what’s best for you, to be adventurous or irresponsible even. Because maybe you are still learning how to get in the right mindset about life, and maybe that’s where you are supposed to be.
After you’ve learned the things you were supposed to learn, after all the temptations, after all the indecisions or failures, everything will fall into its place. In the meantime, don’t just sit on the couch, complaining or whining over your destiny. Enjoy your freedom, smile and be happy. Get a new hobby or try visiting your siblings more. You shouldn’t change anything about now.
In fact, you should be happy you have now. It’s where you are supposed to be, doing what you are doing. With no regrets about anything.
If you are patient and if you believe in the natural course of life, life will take you where it’s supposed to take you. Buckle up! That’s usually somewhere beautiful and magical.
New chapters begin after some silent period, and that’s the beauty of it – new chapters will render a new you, a new, transformed you. For you can’t appreciate the good times until you’ve learned to live with what you’ve got.
Nowadays, if something does not contribute to your love, your health, or your bank account, it doesn’t mean it has to go. Cherish it for it may have a hidden treasure for you.
Don’t be afraid. Things are imperfect since there is no perfection after all. But there is now. Embrace it.
