How To Stop Stressing About The Future And Start Focusing On Your Life Instead

I got myself thinking about life.  About all the possibilities out there. About all the endless opportunities everywhere around us. And, I wondered.

Are we living our life? Or are we barely existing?

All of us have a different path in life. But, eventually, we all think about those same essential things. No matter how much we try not to, we worry about the future.

We live our lives cautiously by the book. We choose soul-sucking careers (just because an adult job is a right thing to do), we work hard for things we don’t like, we allow to be exploited and put down. All this for an average paycheck that we somehow need to magically manage to use in order to meet our financial needs at the moment and also save some for the future.

We cling on to long-term relationships just because we’re in a comfort zone. We stay with the same toxic partner only because we’re too afraid to be alone. We choose to settle for the next person around just because society pressures us that the whole purpose of life is getting married and procreating.

We are trapped in the vicious cycle we’ve created for ourselves and we feel like there’s no way out.

And, so I keep wondering, why are we so afraid to start living our lives?

Why are we so reluctant to get out of our comfort zones and focus on ourselves?

Some would say stability and comfort are the only things they need in life.

Okay. It might be easier to go through life without even trying to pursue your foolish, wild dreams. For some, it might be even simpler. No muss, no fuss.

But, if you ask me, no amount of money would ever force me to work something I hate. No fear or insecurity would make me stay in a relationship out of convenience. My life is happening right now, and I refuse to sit idly while it’s slowly passing by me.

Life is exactly what happens while we’re too busy making plans for the future. It exists in the now. It happens this moment as I write this article and as you read this sentence.

But, while it is perfectly normal to visualize the future you want and plan ahead, it is also extremely important to remember that you will never know what tomorrow might bring.

So, that’s why it is essential to start:

1. Accept your weaknesses instead of hiding them. Believe in yourself that you’ll find a way to achieve everything you desire. There’s a potential inside of you waiting to be unleashed.

And if you truly devote yourself on understanding what makes your soul sparkle and your eyes glisten, you can become anything you want. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without your immense effort and hard work.

Remember. Everything seems impossible and hard until you actually put your mind to it and do it!

2. Don’t hold on to the idea that your life has to be the way society intended. A lot of people follow the safer, more predictable path in life because that’s exactly what everyone else is doing.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that you should do it too. You know what they say… “Only dead fish follow the stream.”

Why would you condemn yourself to a miserable, mediocre life you clearly hate when you can get out of that pinky, comfort zone and search for your passion?

3. And ultimately, you need to understand that what the future holds will always be a mystery to us. You can’t change that fact. You can visit a thousand fortune tellers and still not know what the future has in store for you.

No matter how much time you spend on planning for the future, the ultimate outcome is likely to turn out to be something completely different than you expected. You can’t control it.

That is why it is wiser for you to get in touch with your true self. Embrace the changes. Go with the flow. Let your life unfold before your eyes.

Get familiar with the unknown. Because, who knows? You might just surprise yourself.
