3 Unique Traits You Have If You’re Someone Who Cries A Lot

As a child, I was always made fun of for being a crybaby. At any given second, I could burst into tears just because someone looked at me the wrong way or because I saw a cute dog that made me feel particularly emotional. As an adult, this trait still hasn’t left me. Now, I’ll weep at almost any movie and cry at the most inopportune moments too.

Quite honestly, I’ve always been a bit ashamed of my emotional nature. That changed, however, when I learned of these 3 unique traits you have if you’re someone who cries a lot.

1. You’re Brave

There are so many different things that could lead you to shed a tear. Of course, there are big things such as being diagnosed with a serious illness or losing a loved one. Despite that, most of our reasons for crying aren’t because of these things, since they rarely occur. In most cases, it’s little things that bring tears to our eyes. Perhaps a character in a movie died or you’ve just had a tough day and can’t take it anymore.

Sadly, a lot of people are afraid to allow themselves to confront these emotions. When they feel like their reasons for wanting to cry aren’t justified, they’ll stop themselves and push their feelings away. It takes a lot of courage to be able to embrace your emotions. Likewise, it takes even more bravery to allow yourself to cry when you need to.

2. You’re Able to Handle Stress

Although so much of life is full happiness and love, there are also a lot of negative emotions to go along with it. Sadness, anger, grief, fear, and stress can all overcome us on a daily basis and leave us feeling helpless. Some people don’t want to face these emotions, so they bottle them up and hope that they go away. This, however, is not a permanent solution.

Any psychologist will tell you that the best way to handle these emotions is to allow yourself to feel them. Instead of hiding them away in the back of your mind, it’s far better to allow yourself to scream or cry if that’s what you need. Crying is one of the best ways to relieve yourself of any bad feelings, especially feelings of stress or sadness.

3. You’re Self-Confident

No one is perfect. Even the most confident person in the world will feel self-conscious at some point in their lives. It’s only natural that people would want to keep up appearances. After all, we all want to be accepted socially, to have friends, and to form relationships. However, when someone’s self-esteem is too low, they may be too scared to do things in front of others that are, in fact, totally normal.

One such thing that people often hide from others is how much they cry. They don’t want people to know, even though it’s something that everyone does. On the other hand, we have people who aren’t afraid to shed a tear in front of others. They’re confident enough in themselves not to worry about what other people think about them. You know that crying is normal, so why should you be afraid?

When you cry, you’re allowing yourself to open up to both others and to yourself. You’re allowing yourself to be completely vulnerable. Although it may seem silly sometimes, it’s not an easy thing to do. If you’re someone who cries a lot, then be proud of it. You have so many unique and amazing traits that some people could only dream of.
