Celebrities come with many perks and money is one of them. However, what they use their money for is what makes them who they are. Some choose to spend their money buying luxurious and extravagant things, while there are others who spend it on noble causes and donate to charity.

Simon Cowell who is best knows for being a judge on American Idol, donated more than $32,000 ($32,640) to shut down a dog meat farm in South Korea. His donation saved over 200 dogs from the farm. They will be transported to shelters in Canada, the US, the Netherlands, and the UK for loving and kind families to adopt them.

After the heartwarming act of Simon, his fans decided to match his donation.

“Simon’s generous donation means the world to us and provides a huge boost to our appeal to close this horrendous dog meat farm,” said HSI UK Executive Director, Claire Bass.

“More than 200 dogs are languishing in the most appalling conditions, but we have a real chance to save them. These poor dogs have had the worst lives so far, so we’re desperate to get them out of those dreadful cages and show them love, soft beds and loving arms for the first time in their lives.”

This dog meat farm is the 13th that the Humane Society has closed with over 1,400 dogs being rescued. Moreover, every time a dog meat farm is being closed, the organization turns the meat farms into more humane fields, for instance, chili and mushroom farming is an absolute hit.

Activists’ voice is really making a difference, and 70% of the population in South Korea stopped eating dog meat altogether.

We definitely need more organizations like this.
