Making A Real Commitment To Someone Is More Than Just A Label

We all say that we know how serious making a commitment is, but do we really? Although we can believe that just announcing a commitment makes it real, it doesn’t. It’s not about just calling someone your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife, Truthfully, it has a much deeper meaning than words alone can ever express.

One of the biggest reasons why many relationships fail is because both people rush into things without understanding the importance of their actions. They often don’t understand that making a real commitment to someone is more than just a label.

It Means Going All The Way

If you’re truly ready to make a commitment to someone, then it means that you’re ready to dive right into being with that person. You can’t do things half-way anymore. There’re no almosts, no maybes, and no half-measures. Now is the time to put all your effort into making things work with them.

A commitment means giving your entire heart to someone because you love them more than life itself. More importantly, it means trusting them with your heart and allowing them to love you intensely and deeply. Without those things, the feelings that you two have for one another will wither and die.

It Means Staying Loyal

If you’re not ready to give up the single life, then do not jump into a commitment with someone. When you do that, you’re promising them that you will stay faithful to them no matter what. The days of playing the field are long gone and your love life now needs to revolve around one person only.

Taking that step and becoming part of a committed couple means you are making a promise to them. You’re promising them that you won’t betray them and that you will never cheat on them. You cannot abuse the trust of the person that you love by being unfaithful to them.

It Means Being a Team

There’s no more “me and you” anymore. Once you make a commitment, you become “we.” From now on, you’ll make all important decisions together, cooperate, and learn how to communicate in a way that suits you both. As well as that, you need to learn to consider each other’s feelings in everything that you do.

A commitment means keeping your partner informed. If you’re going to be home late from work, if you need to cancel plans, if you’re sick, or if you’re having a bad day, you need to tell them. Communication is key and without it, your relationship will fall apart.

You and your partner are a team now. If you truly love each other, you won’t be just two individuals who enjoy spending time together. Instead, you’ll be a couple, best friends, and soulmates. In this kind of relationship, there’s no room for selfishness or arrogance. You need to care about each other as much as you care about yourselves.

Committing to someone is a huge step. However, so many people take that step without understanding what it truly means. It isn’t just a label or a story to tell your friends, it’s a real connection. Unless you’re willing to do what it takes to make it work, then don’t take that step.
