Leatherback turtles are some of the most mysterious and beautiful creatures on the planet. They can live for over 100 years and can develop to weigh over an astounding 700 pounds.

Recently, several beachside visitors were lucky enough to see one of these amazing animals up close. Thankfully for those of us who weren’t there, some people at the beach recorded the event.

As a result, this breathtaking video has captured the world’s largest sea turtle.

Around certain times of the year, sea turtles burrow a home on land in which the can lay their eggs. Afterward, the eggs will hatch, and the young turtles will make their way back to the sea. These hatchlings will then take 15 to 50 years to fully develop.

Despite this, it seems that this animal was only making a pitstop.

The leatherback stopped on land for a few moments before shortly returning back to the ocean from which it came. However, it will likely be stopping at another beach soon to lay its eggs.

You can see this amazing animal for yourself in the video below.

Share this video with family and friends to show them how beautiful these mammoth creatures are.
