Manipulative person and toxic individuals have mastered the art of deception and trickery. You might be deceived by their occasional kindness and fake ‘sincerity’, but oftentimes that’s just a well-established, attractive façade. It’s their own method of messing up your rational mind so they can easily lure you into their dangerous trap.
Manipulative and conniving individuals will make sure to get to everything they want. And on the quest for power, there will be no mercy. They will play the injured victim, distort the truth, they’ll act passive aggressive and will make you doubt every part of who you are.
These toxic beings are the people we should always be on the lookout for. That’s why, in order to gain a better knowledge about their manipulative nature, here are 12 common traits or characteristics of manipulative person we need to be aware of:
1. THEY MAKE YOU FEEL GUILTY
The only reason they’ll ever be nice to you is just so they can get the things they need. They have no emotion inside them, so nothing they ever do is genuine. It is the oldest tale of make-believe.
And if you try to refuse something they demanded, they’ll make sure to bring it up and make you feel guilty. The guilt trip is the only way you could give in to their traps. (1)
2. THEY DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE DECISION/ANSWER
These people are selfish and inconsiderate individuals. And with them, it’s always about “now or never”. There’s no “We’ll talk about it later” or “I’m busy.” For them, you’ll have to be available and ready to go anytime they want.
3. THE DON’T RESPECT BOUNDARIES
In addition to the previous trait, manipulative individuals will never respect your boundaries, let alone your free time. You’ll try to talk to them and explain the importance of your boundaries, and they’ll still choose to cross them if it suits them. (2)
4. THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINION
They might ask you what you think about something, but honestly, they don’t give a single damn if your opinion is a whole lot different than theirs.
Chances are, they didn’t even listen to you talking. So, don’t bother wasting your energy in vain, and get out of there while there’s still a chance.
5. THEY’LL DESTROY EVERY BIT OF YOUR CONFIDENCE
If somebody asked me to find a suitable word for these people, I’d say they are vultures. Merciless scavengers. Why?
Because they’ll cut you and rip you open whenever they have the chance. Everything you possess that might appear as some kind of a potential threat to them, they’ll tear it down.
And, naturally, the first thing that has to go is your confidence. What good are you to them if you know your worth and believe in yourself?
6. THEY DON’T MAKE COMPROMISES
It’s either their way or nothing at all. Your opinion will never be validated. You can never win with this kind of person. You need to just… stay away.
7. THEY NEVER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS
Regardless of the fact that they’re always the ones to cause the ‘thunderstorm’, unfortunately, they never learn the lesson to take full responsibility for their faulty actions.
The blame for every misunderstanding or a fight is always on your shoulders. They’ll never grow and own up to the things they do.
8. …AND NEVER QUESTION THEMSELVES
If there’s anything worse than not taking responsibility for your actions, it’s absolutely being ignorant and thinking you’re innocent, when you clearly aren’t. They’ll rather die, than question their “fake integrity”.
Despite the fact it’s rude and disrespectful, it is awfully deceitful to everyone around them.
9. THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE SILENT TREATMENT WHEN YOU DON’T ‘BEHAVE’
And when you decide to step up and defend yourself, they’ll punish you and will ignore you until you feel miserable enough to start begging them to take you back.
Until you finally give in and they win the ultimate game of manipulation. For as long as they think it’s necessary.
10. THEY SAY ONE THING AND DO A COMPLETELY ANOTHER
Their actions do not match their words. They are the people who are mot likely to state one thing, and in the next minute do the complete opposite. Never ever make the mistake to trust this person. Their world is nothing but manipulation tricks up their sleeve.
11. THEY DON’T PUT EFFORT INTO THINGS
Manipulative and conniving creatures may pretend like they struggle to put an effort into something, but the truth is totally different. They will lie straight to your face and won’t feel even the slightest remorse.
12. THEY ARE THE MOST JUDGEMENTAL PEOPLE
It’s in the nature of these people to take their liberty to judge every person, without first looking at the mirror. Because they strongly believe in their superiority over people and their powerful feeling of entitlement.
