Ways to Avoid a DUI

You don’t want to stay overnight in jail and lose your car keys for six months after a DUI arrest. You envision your friends’ looks as they attempt not to criticize you, and it’s nearly as horrible as the possibility that you may have caused an accident or wounded someone else.

You don’t want to find yourself in this situation, do you? Definitely not! Nobody is capable of doing so. Therefore, have a look at these five ideas to help you avoid a DUI offense.

1. Ask for a grab or hand the keys over to someone who hasn’t had any alcohol.

There’s no reason to drive after you’ve had a few drinks. Instead of an expensive DUI, download the Uber App or another service and get a cheap ride home. Alternatively, find a trustworthy person who isn’t drinking and give them your keys for the evening so they can drive you home. Make sure they don’t return your keys until the following day.

If your blood alcohol level impacts your coordination, speech, and balance, you may be charged with a DUI. The more slurred your speech is, and the more unsteady you are, the more likely you are over. BAC = 08 You’ve had too much if you’re dropping things and running into things as you walk.

2. Give yourself a night off

While this won’t work at a pub, if you happen to be nearby, ask if you may sleep on their sofa. Alternatively, you could get a ride home and sleep on someone’s floor. If you’re highly intoxicated, don’t go to bed right away because you might choke on your vomit. Anyone who passes out after drinking should go to the hospital to be safe. Allowing a friend to become ill due to alcohol poisoning or making poor decisions is not a good idea.

3. Take a break for a few hours.

Consider sleeping on a friend’s sofa if your location is within a reasonable distance of their home. Alternatively, you could get a ride home and sleep on someone’s floor. If you’re extremely intoxicated, don’t go to bed right away because you might choke on your vomit. Anyone who passes out after drinking should go to the hospital to be safe. Allowing a friend to become ill due to alcohol poisoning or making poor decisions is not a good idea.

4. Schedule your departure and stop drinking if you only have 90 minutes before driving.

Set a timer for when you’ll stop drinking alcohol, which should be several hours before you leave. After you stop drinking, you will still have alcohol in your system for several hours. To be safe, plan ahead of time and count backward from when you want to leave. Do you want to get home around midnight? After 10:30 p.m., don’t drink. You won’t have to stay up until 2 a.m. waiting for the buzz to wear off.

At the very least, hopefully, you will make use of these ideas. If the worst happens and you are charged with a DUI, stay calm and contact a DUI attorney.
