Rebel Turtle Without Back Legs Gets A New Handmade Fancy Wheelchair Thanks To Kind Vets

Pedro is a handicapped turtle and a patient of Louisiana State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. When he was adopted, he was missing one back leg. He ran away and was missing for a few months and when he came back, this cute turtle has somehow managed to lose his other leg as well.

His owners brought Pedro to LSU and vets concluded that Pedro is fine, only he is very accident-prone.

“There was nothing medically wrong with him,” Ginger Guttner, the communications manager for LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine told CNN. “But of course he didn’t have any back legs, so our doctors quickly had to figure out what they were going to do.”

Luckily, they found their answer in a toy store. One zoological intern took a Lego car kit and using some animal-safe epoxy and syringe parts together with the vets at the hospital built a cute little rig for Pedro. Pedro sure feels how much he is loved and cared for.

He is now motoring around happily and the vets are really glad that they helped him. They now have another amazing story to share.
