Live The Life The Way You Want To – YouWhat Tomorrow Will Bring

We think we have our whole life ahead of us. We think we have time…

But the truth is, no matter how much we try to, we can’t control time.

We don’t have time… Time has us.

The older we get, the faster times go by and the harder it is for us to keep track of it. And just like that entire days, months, years fly by and before we know it, we are at the very end of life. From that point on, there is no going back. Only forward. And in those last moments, the only things that come to haunt us are our regrets…

Here are 8 common things most people regret when they grow old:

1. I wish I’d stood up for myself more. I wish I’d been brave enough to fight for what I believe in and never let anyone convince me that I am not worthy. I wish I’d learned how to say NO whenever I feel like it instead of worrying about other people’s needs at the expense of my happiness and mental health.

2. I wish I’d never gave up on my passions. I wish I’d listened to my heart more and follow my dreams instead of letting others fill me with doubt and fear. I wish I had the power to bring back time and make things right. Be brave and bold. Change my path. Risk everything. Do the things that made my heart smile.

3. I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time worrying what others think of me. I wish I had learned sooner that what people say or think about me says a lot more about them. I wish I hadn’t spent so much time in my life pleasing other people’s expectations.

4. I wish I had focused more on the present moment. I wish I’d remembered to appreciate the small joys in life and not let trivial issues get to me. I wish there was a way to go back and relive every part of my life that I took for granted…

5. I wish I had worked less and made more time for my family. I wish I had known earlier that even though money and success are important, they are not the most important things in life… I wish I’d spend more time with my loved ones. I wish I had been there for them as much they needed me to be… I wish I had the magic stick to make all of this happen.

6. I wish I had learned what self-care means sooner. I wish I’d taken better care of myself. I wish I had known that doing my best does not mean working myself to a point of breakdown. I wish I’d realized sooner that I am the only person I can truly rely on.

7. I wish I had trusted my gut more often. I wish I’d listened to my inner voice more than I did. I wish I’d followed my instincts in making some of the most important decisions in my life. I know that it is too late for everything, but if I could turn back time right now, I’d do everything differently.

8. I wish I’d appreciated my friendships more. I wish I’d made more time for the people in my life. I wish I hadn’t taken them for granted. I wish I’d taken more care of my bonds with people even after I got married. I guess, after all, it is true what people say…You never really know what you have until you lose it…
