Even though people who know me would say that I am the most chilled person and I don’t demand much, there are some things that I expect from a partner.
1. Show me how much you love me.
If we’ve been dating for months and you still haven’t told me and showed me you love me, I will start wondering what’s happening. If you don’t do little things for me to show me your love for me just like I do for you, I am out.
2. Respect me and my boundaries.
If you don’t respect me and my boundaries, I don’t see any reason I should be with you. I want someone who will treat me kindly and lovingly, not just in front of our family in friends, but in private as well. I want to be with someone who respects me as a person with my own wants and needs.
3. Take care of yourself.
Of course, I don’t want you to obsess over your appearance. But I want you to look good. This talks a lot about how much you respect and love yourself. Of course, physical appearance is only one thing. I want you also to be curious and to be willing to grow and expand as a person. I cannot be with someone who doesn’t have dreams and goals and aspires to be a better person every day.
4. Be there for me.
What’s the point of having someone in your life if they are not there when you need them? Yes, I am independent and a person of my own, but I still want to know whether you are there for me. I need your support and time just as much as I need your love and affection.
5. Meet and be courteous around my people.
If you are an important person to me, I would want you to meet my family and friends who are also special to me. Therefore, I want you to be willing to do it. And to treat them with respect because they are a part of me.
6. Be consistent.
Just because I am not a clingy person desperate for attention, it doesn’t mean that you are allowed to disappear for days without calling or texting. I appreciate consistency in a person, and if you don’t have that, then I am sorry, but you don’t have a place in my life.
7. Be happy about my achievements.
Don’t feel threatened or jealous when something good happens to me. Be happy for me. Celebrate my success with me. Be my cheerleader like I am for you. If you turn out to be my rival, you are leaving me no choice but to leave you behind.
8. Spend quality time with me.
Of course, it is fun to spend time with your friends, that is something we should all do on a regular basis. But I also want you to have time for me. I want us to do things together that will strengthen the bond between us. If you don’t want that, then we shouldn’t be together.
9. See me in your future plans.
Honestly, there is no point in us dating if you don’t plan on building your future with me. I don’t want to waste my time and nor should you.
10. Make me a priority.
If we are in a committed relationship, then I must be your priority. I am not a demanding drama queen that requires all your time, but I will never accept being last on your list of priorities. If you are not willing to make me a priority, I am more than willing to walk away and never come back.
