“Why is the seduction of the psychopath so powerful? Because it is the art of the con wrapped in the beautiful illusion of love.”

Anyone can be lured in by the charm of a psychopath. They’re masters of deception who can make you believe that they are the greatest people in the world, that they love you and care for you. Once they have you in their grasp, however, it’s a whole different story.

A person like that will manipulate you and abuse you in ways that will leave you unsure of what’s real and what’s not. That’s why so many people don’t know that something is wrong until it’s too late. Here are 4 red flags that your man is an emotional psychopath.

1. He Blames You for Everything

You feel constantly guilty around him, but that’s because he always forces you to feel that way. Whenever something goes wrong, you’re the one who’s going to get the blame for it. Even if he’s the one who’s just done something awful, he’ll always find a way to make you look like the bad guy.

2. He Stops You From Socializing

You’ve become isolated, alone, and afraid. Your man doesn’t let you see anyone else besides him, not even close friends or family. Although he may not just say “no” to the idea, he doesn’t need to. He’ll get so angry about you socializing that it’s just easier for you not to. Psychopaths want to be in complete control of you, and the best way to achieve that is by being the only person in your life.

3. He Has Intense Mood Swings

One minute he’s happy, laughing with you, and making you feel loved. The next minute, however, he’s furious, screaming at you, and telling you that you’re worthless. The most difficult part of it all is that you never know when his mood will switch or what small action is going to set him on a rampage. Because of it, you’re constantly walking on eggshells around him.

4. He Makes You Feel Weak and Afraid

Everything he does makes you feel completely powerless and at his mercy. You’ve started to wonder what you would ever do without him and how you would survive. Not only that, but you’re completely terrified to be around him as well as scared to be away from him. His manipulation has made you believe that you are too weak to ever survive without him by your side.

Abuse isn’t always just someone beating you up, hitting you, kicking you, or spitting on you. The reality of it can be so much darker and more twisted than that. Although it’s often harder to recognize, emotional abuse is one of the most tragic and damaging things that someone can do to you. If you’re suffering at the hands of an emotional psychopath, get out as soon as possible.
