8 Things That Reveal You’re In The Presence Of An Empath

“Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another, and feeling with the heart of another.” – Alfred Adler

Empaths are the most extraordinary people as they possess an unexplained, magnetic-like force that draws people toward them. They are special, so if you have an empath in your life, you can consider yourself lucky.

Many people characterize empaths as weak and too emotional, but this is far from the truth. The thing is, empaths have the powerful gift to not only sense and understand other people’s feelings and motives, but also to experience them as they are their own. They make an instant and special connection with you and they’re able to feel your energy and recognize your innermost nature and intentions just by looking at you.

Recognizing an empath is not hard at all, and following is a list of 8 things that reveal you’re in the company of one.

1. They know what you’re going through because they’re going through the same things with you.

Not only do empaths recognize how you feel, but they also begin to vibrate to the same emotion and energy. If you’re happy, they’re happy too. If you’re sad, they begin to tear up. If you’re angry, their whole body gets filled with anger. They simply experience all the emotions you’re feeling as if they are their own.

2. They’re the best listeners.

There’s no way an empath would look in the other direction while you’re talking to them. Empaths carefully listen to every word you say and put themselves in your shoes. That’s why it’d be really unwise to refuse to follow their advice.

Additionally, an empath listens without judging you. They respect your ideas and attitudes which means you can freely express your opinions without worrying you’ll be misunderstood, criticized, or mocked.

3. They’re always true to themselves.

Empaths know pretty well who they are. They accept themselves with all their virtues and flaws. They don’t see any reason to put on a mask and pretend to be someone they are not.

Since they’re aware of their own imperfections and believe that all people change, they accept the faults of other people and never judge them.

4. Helping others makes them feel happy and peaceful.

Empaths feel the happiest when they know they can do good to other people. If you’re going through a tough period and need help and support or just someone to listen to you, an empath will drop what they’re doing and rush to help you. They will be tender and caring. They’ll treat you with kindness and compassion like no one ever has.

Helping you overcome your problems and ease your pain will become their top priority. That’s the reason why empaths always attract people who need healing and…

5….they very often feel emotionally and physically drained.

Since empaths feel other people’s emotions almost as strongly as they experience their own, they often feel emotionally and physically exhausted. They absorb and process what those around them are going through and this feels like a weight they have to carry on a daily basis.

Yet, once they learn how to overcome the challenges of their gift and avoid the negative feelings of others, it’ll be easier for them to navigate this world without feeling energetically drained all the time.

6. They can’t stand being lied to.

Empaths hate lies. Due to their ability to read your emotions and true intentions, they can just glance at your direction and they’ll know you’re lying. Empaths are honest and to them, lying is the worst quality a person can possess.

They believe that it’s always better to tell the truth, no matter how harsh and painful it is, than to be lied. And they don’t see any reason why someone would hide the truth.

7. They can easily get distracted.

Empaths notice everything that’s happening around them. They can be busy doing something or talking with you about important things, but they’ll still notice the child standing alone in the corner, the sad look in the girl’s eyes, or the couple arguing at the next table.

Yet, there’s a positive side to this too. Empaths notice and appreciate all the little things that most people fail to notice or simply think they’re not important.

8. They don’t like being in crowds.

Their sensitivity towards other people’s emotions often leaves them feeling exhausted. Their ability to absorb the energy of others makes even the most outgoing empaths to easily become overwhelmed in crowds. People can be quite draining for them, especially those with intense inner struggles and the hypocrites.
