8 Phrases A Narcissist Will Use That Have A Hidden Meaning (From The Perspective Of A Narcissist)

To the rest of us, narcissists don’t seem to make any sense. The way that they act and interact with us can be completely baffling. It seems as though when they say one thing, they mean something entirely different. If only we could take a look inside their mind. Then we’d be able to understand what they’re really thinking.

Well, now you can see their side of the story for once. Here are 8 phrases a narcissist will use that have a hidden meaning (from the perspective of a narcissist).

1. “You’re Overreacting”

Quite honestly, you’re making perfect sense, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll let you win. I don’t want you to catch on to what I’m doing no matter what. Thankfully, I know that I can convince you that you’re just being sensitive.

2. “I’m Sorry You Feel That Way”

You can accuse me and argue with me all you want but I don’t care. I’m not sorry for what I’ve done, and I never will be. So, this is the only form of apology you’ll ever get from me. Take it and be glad.

3. “You’re so Jealous”

That’s not a bad thing though. I want you to feel this way. I want to make you jealous of the other people around me because it’s fun to watch how insecure you become. More importantly, making you jealous means that you become even more afraid of losing me.

4. “Not Everything is About You”

Sure, this might be that the first time you’ve ever considered yourself, but once is far too much. We need to bring the topic back to what I want and you need to bring your attention back to me immediately. I am the only one who matters here.

5. “You Need to Learn to Trust More”

Although you may not even be aware of it, I’ve broken your trust countless times. I’ve lied, deceived you, and made a complete fool of you. You may be starting to become suspicious of me now, but I won’t let them happen. Since I have no intention of stopping, I’m going to need to convince you to trust me.

6. “I Can’t Believe You’d Do That”

What you did wasn’t really that bad. In fact, you may not have done anything wrong at all. However, that doesn’t really matter. Right now, I’m going to be the victim and you’re going to feel sorry for me. That way, I’ll be able to continue hurting you whenever I like, and you will be the one who apologizes for it.

7. “You Won’t Find Anyone Else Like Me”

I’ve made you believe that I love you and that I care for you more than anyone else. If I’m honest, you don’t really mean that much to me. Despite that, I need you to believe that I’m perfect for you so that you’ll be too scared to ever leave.

8. “I Love You”

I don’t love you. The only thing I love is what you can provide me with and what purpose you have in my life. Sure, you’re important in some aspects, but I could find someone to replace you in a heartbeat. Still, I want you to think that I genuinely care until I’ve had enough of you.

When communicating with anyone, whether you know if they’re a narcissist or not, it’s important to stay vigilant. Keep an eye out for these phrases and try to interpret whether they’re sincere or not. It will take a lot of hard work and patience to be able to truly decipher their words, but it will save you a lot of heartache in the long run.
