Your mind and your body are connected. That is why sometimes emotional pain can manifest itself as a physical pain.

Sciatica and back pain are both chronic diseases that are often caused from the complex network of ligaments, muscles, joints, nerves, and spinal discs which cause discomfort and tension in your lower, middle, or upper back, your feet, ankles, knees, legs, or hips.

Ancient Indians believed that the physical is the main root of back pain stems from the different energies that happen within us and are not balanced. This affects the oxygenation and the blood flow causing poor circulation which results in inflammation, contraction, and pain.

It is also believed that the main cause of back pain is due to suppressed emotions that we have within ourselves that are often associated with feelings of insecurity, lack of support and lack of stability.

So, here are 6 ancient Indian practices that will help you heal sciatica and back pain.

1. MUDRA THERAPY

This therapy will help you balance your emotions while also encouraging your physical healing. It will strengthen your whole back and it will increase the blood flow in your veins thus relieving your pain.

Place the tips of your right thumb and little and middle fingers together. Extend and relax your ring and index fingers. Then, place the joint of your left thumb on your left index finger’s nail. Extend and relax your little, ring, and middle fingers. Practice this exercise 3 times a day for 10 minutes each.

2. ACUPRESSURE THERAPY

This therapy empowers and regulates the emotional, mental, and physical energies.

If you want to calm down, gently massage the area between your fingers and toes. This will immediately decrease the pain and will calm your nerves.

If you want to empower your hips, lower back, and your sciatic nerve – firmly massage your Achilles tendons, your ankles, and heels.

If you want to trigger your adrenal glands, then firmly massage your back area – both sides of your spine below your rib cage.

If you want to increase the circulation of your blood, start massaging the tips of your toes and fingers. This will release any excess impurities, moisture, and cold from your tissues.

If you want to increase the energy of your entire back, press your spine’s acupressure points that are placed on the back of your hands. Begin at the area between your thumb and your index finger, then move over the back of your hand, and finish at the back of your wrist.

3. RAW JUICE THERAPY

Fasting is traditionally known to remove the emotional and physical toxins from your body and redirect your energy towards self-healing instead. Raw juice therapy works in the same way.

So, for alleviating your pain you should drink 8-12 glasses of cold juice for 3 days. For best results include these juices: pineapple juice, gooseberry juice, beetroot juice, potato juice, green leafy vegetable juice, and cherry juice. Each has different benefits for your health.

4. CRYSTAL THERAPY

The natural stones of the earth will help you heal your emotional wounds and the physical pain you are feeling.  So, tap the following crystals to your painful areas that will restore the flow of your emotional and physical energy:

Hematite (increases blood flow), apatite (promotes the formation of new tissue), Blue Lace Agate (relieves inflammation and calms emotional stress), copper (regulates energy flow), malachite (stimulates the innate healing response of the body), and smoky quartz (cleanses the physical and emotional energies).

5. NATURAL HEALING REMEDIES

Follow these steps to relieve your lower back pain or free your trapped sciatic nerve:

Lie on your stomach on the floor and keep your arms close to the sides of your body. Lie still and ask someone to hold the front of your right ankle and then very gently raise your lower leg until your right heel touches your buttocks. Maintain this position for 5 seconds. Repeat the procedure twice and then do it with your left leg.

Then, hold both of your ankles and at the same time raise your lower legs until you touch your buttocks with your heels. Hold in this position for 5 seconds. Practice this exercise every day to increase your flexibility and relieve the pain.

6. NATURAL PAIN REMEDIES

Here is a recipe to make yourself a pain-relieving balm: Melt 100 gr. Organic Ghee. Then, slowly add 1 tablespoon organic cayenne pepper, and pour the warm mix into a jar that you sterilized before. Do not put it into a refrigerator. Apply this balm on your painful areas on your legs, buttocks, hips, and back to activate the blood flow in those areas.

If you want to relieve your rheumatic, arthritic, and muscular pain, you can try taking a hot ginger bath to detoxify the tissues during the perspiration. You should just simmer 2 tablespoons of grated ginger root in a liter of water for 10 minutes. Then strain the liquid and add the water to the hot bath. Relax in the bath for about 20 minutes.
