Life hasn’t always been good to me. It hasn’t been the fairytale that we all dream of.
There have been times when I felt like I am not going to make it. Times when I doubted myself. I doubted my abilities, my strength, my will, and my courage. Times when even I, the one who has always tried to get it together and keep moving on, needed a hand to get up on my feet and continue my journey.
In those moments, you were the only one who was truly there for me. The only person that sat me down and reminded me of my strength. The only one that didn’t stop believing in me even when I had lost all faith. Even when I was too weak, too hurt, and too fragile to even think about moving on. You were there beside me, holding my hand, giving me strength, and loving me regardless of my failures. You were my shoulder to cry on when everyone else jumped ship. You were my support when even I stopped believing in myself. You were my rock, the force that lifted me up and gave me the wings to fly.
And you still are. You are my everlasting inspiration, my biggest motivation, the source of all my strength, the reason for my existence, my greatest love. My mother.
Today I am proud to say that all that I am I owe it to you.
Every battle I’ve won, every obstacle I’ve overcome, every hardship I’ve survived, every time I’ve pushed myself forward instead of giving up, I did it because of you. I did it because you taught me what perseverance means. I did it because you were the one who helped me learn that failing is not the end of the world, but rather one of life’s most useful tools for gathering information. I did it because you were always there remind me that nothing in life lasts forever and that after the storm comes the rainbow.
You’ve always been and you will always be the force that drives me in life. The one and only person in my life that is powerful enough to bring me my hopes and my faith back when life gets difficult. The one and only friend that will always have my back, no matter what. The person whose heart will never stop beating in the same rhythm as mine.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am for having you beside me. God is my witness that if I could, I would do anything to keep you alive and well forever. I am aware of how blessed I am for having you in my life. And I am aware of lucky I am to have my best friend as my own mother. I just hope to one day be a mother as great as you are.
So, I guess it’s true… When you are raised by a strong mother, you grow up to be even stronger. You grow up knowing your worth, ready to take on the world, and create the life of your dreams.
Thank you, mother. Thank you for all the love. Thank you for all the support. Thank you for every single sacrifice. You deserve the whole world and the entire universe above it. I hope you know that.
