You have always been the funny one. The one everyone goes to when they have troubles because you are the only one who can make them feel better and forget their problems. You are the one people go to because you lighten up the mood. So, you feel like you are not supposed to let others see you struggling.
But, remember, you can also tell your friends about your problems. They will listen to you. They will be there for you. It is okay to feel hurt. It is okay to feel powerless. You will get back on your feet. Your friends will help you through your pain just like you’ve helped them. That’s how true friendships are built.
Of course, you feel like you are not supposed to reveal your feelings and admit you have problems because you have always been the strong and independent one. You never needed help from anyone because you always relied only on yourself. And so, now you feel like expressing your vulnerability would make your friends think less of you but that’s not true.
It takes an immense amount of strength to express your feelings to someone and admit that you are feeling weak. Vulnerability is a trait of strong people. Weak people can never be vulnerable.
You are allowed to feel sad. You are allowed to be in pain. You are allowed to be upset. You are allowed to feel whatever you are feeling. But, you mustn’t punish yourself and bottle your feelings inside. You must express them in order to heal. Don’t hurt yourself by refusing to reveal your feelings.
It is okay to not have it all figured out. It is okay to not be okay and say it out loud.
