Take A Second To Appreciate The Sky And Remember: The Only Thing You Have Is Now

Life is not always as pretty as we want it to be.

But that’s okay. It’s all a part of your journey here.

The most important thing you can do in such moments is to stop whatever you are doing and focus on the present moment. Focus on the beauty and magic everywhere around you. Realize that the only thing we really have right now is this moment. This second, minute, hour, right here, right now…

My way of embracing that truth has always been through gazing at the sky. I don’t know what is it about that great vast openness that makes me so grateful for where I am… Perhaps, it is a fact that I am a part of that vastness. And perhaps it is the realization that there are worlds out there that will always be beyond our reach. Different galaxies, different people, opposite universes, opportunities, dreams, hopes…

Below are 7 things that only people who take time to appreciate the sky would relate to:

1. Staring at the sky reminds us of what true beauty means. It gives us the chance to stop our busy lives and take a moment to admire life’s simple pleasures. To let go of the burden that we carry and for a moment, get lost in its beauty. In its warm, vivid colors, in its patterns, in the clouds, in the songs the birds sing…

2. It makes us more curious. It piques our interests, you know? It makes us wonder whether there is life out there. It inspires us to imagine what the world is like out there. To dream of distant places and wonder how many parallel universes with us in them exists…

3. It gives us the opportunity to slow down. It’s a moment of freedom. I can’t explain it. All I know is that it feels like you are floating. Like you are flying. Except you are not. You are firmly on the ground, wandering with your mind and feeling completely free.

4. It gives us peace of mind. Being right then and there at that moment give you peace. It slows you down. Takes the weight off your shoulders, makes you forget about everything you’ve been through, releases you of all of your fears and insecurities, and allows you to be who you truly are. There is no experience quite like it… To me, staring at the sky is one of the best ways to reconnect with the lost parts of myself.

5. It reminds us that everything nature creates is mind-blowing and grandiose. And the more you look, the more amazed you are.

6. It brings hope even in the darkest of days. Again, I don’t know why I feel that way, I just do. Looking at the night sky on a warm, silent evening all by myself has given me a lot of hope and strength when I needed it. It has helped me find my answers and understand some very important things in life. It has brought me to a better place when I’ve felt bad. And it has helped to rise above everything that weighs me down… It’s truly incredible how the act itself is so meditative up to a point where it actually frees you from all the pain that you feel…

7. It makes your problems go away. Because the more you focus on noticing the beauty around you, the more you realize that your problems are not worthy enough of wasting your life on them… It sounds simple, but it takes a brave and open-hearted being to achieve this state of mind.
