There is a saying that everything is a matter of perception. Life really is the way we look at it. This can also apply to mathematical puzzles. Sometimes, there is more than one solution and your answer can reveal how your mind works.

So, how would you solve this viral mathematical puzzle?

1 + 4 = 5

2 + 5 = 12

3 + 6 = 21

8 + 11 = ?

First solution:

1. 1 + 4 = 5. This is a fact.
2. The next line is a summation of the result of the first one, which is 5, with 5 and 2 which gives the result of 12.
3. Next, 3 + 6 equals 9, to which it is added 12 which results in 21.
4. So, the answer to the puzzle is 40 because of 21 + 8 + 11 = 40.

Second solution:

1. 1 + 4 = 5. That’s obvious. However, 5 can also be reached by adding 1 to 4 times 1.
2. The second line is solved in the same fashion. 2 + 2(5) = 12.
3. Also the next line: 3 + 3(6) = 21.
4. And using this method you’ll get that 96 is the final solution to the puzzle.
