Life is a series of tests. Some we pass, some we don’t. However, the lessons remain. We all get different tests. Some of us struggle with complex calculations, some with the basics of mathematics, but we all must go through life making the best we can out of it.
Elisabeth Kubler – Ross, the author of “On Death and Dying,” has beautifully put this in words:
“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”
Compassionate and gentle people bring light to the world because they have come out of the darkness themselves.
Having been dealt with “bad” cards like a toxic family situation, or poverty, they have not only learned what it takes to succeed in life, they have also learned how to overcome all the obstacles and rise above them.
They have achieved the impossible – they have thrown away their misfortunes and ran towards their brighter future.
While others were given a multi-colored pencil set, they were given only one and half-broken, but with it, they were able to color their world differently and more brightly than the rest.
Compassionate and gentle people never intentionally hurt anyone because they have been hurt severely in the past.
That’s why they will never toy with other people’s emotions. They know how to love, and they love deeply. They have experienced pain and heartbreak, they know how it feels to be betrayed by the person you love the most, and therefore they will never do that to another human being.
Compassionate and gentle people have learned the hard way that their handicaps are a possibility for growth and bettering themselves.
It is possible that the majority of the gentle and compassionate people have been pessimists in the past. But with time, they have learned that they can’t prosper in life with pessimism. They have realized that only by facing their difficulties they can achieve their dreams. And so they treat obstacles as stepping stones on their way to success.
Compassionate and gentle people don’t want other people to suffer as they did. So, they help others to survive and to become better people.
They are always there to help someone in need. They motivate others to achieve their goals and are always there for them. They will do anything to save another human being because they have also needed saving in the past and they know how painful it is to not have anyone to turn to.
These people are what makes this world a good place. We need more like them.
