A Badass 102-Year-Old Woman Is Probably The Oldest Skydiver Ever

Irene O’Shea is a badass woman who didn’t let anything, let alone her age, stand in the way of getting an adrenaline rush. At 102, she is probably the oldest person to skydive ever.

At 102 years and 272 days, on a Sunday morning, Irene put on warm clothes, boarded a helicopter, got herself strapped to her instructor and jumped out at 14,000 feet.

She says she has a good cause for it.

Namely, after her daughter was diagnosed with a Lou Gehrig’s disease and lost the battle, Irene began raising funds and awareness for research for this disease. That was her third skydive for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of South Australia (her first was on her 100th birthday back in 2016).

Irene doesn’t consider herself to be an adrenaline junkie. “As far as I’m concerned, I’m the same as everybody else, just a normal person,” said she during an interview for Channel 9.
