Life is what you make it. Yes, it’s as simple as that.
The genius himself, Scott E. Fitzgerald in his short story known as The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button wrote: “For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. We can make the best or the worst of it.”
“I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.”
Life is nothing but a beautiful, and infinite metanoia. We keep shifting, changing, adapting, adjusting and eventually we find our place in this world.
So, if you by any chance find yourself at a crossroad and you don’t know which road you should choose, here are some crucial things you need to do to get started:
1. STOP WASTING YOUR TIME ON WRONG PEOPLE
Life is short to be wasted on ungrateful individuals who suck the joy out of you. You should focus it on making it the most beautiful and magical experience. Not spending it on all the wrong and toxic people for you.
2. STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM YOUR ISSUES, FACE THEM!
No one said it would be easy. But, just like your life, and the positive moments that are a part of it, your problems are also your issues. No one could solve them instead of you. And, the most interesting thing is that the more you run, the faster they chase you.
3. STOP LYING TO YOURSELF
If there’s one person that you should always be 100% honest and blunt with that is yourself. Be true to yourself. ALWAYS.
4. STOP PUTTING ASIDE YOUR NEEDS
The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving another human being. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be there for others. I’m just pointing out that self-care is the most beneficial thing you can do for yourself. No one will respect your needs if you don’t do that yourself.
5. STOP BEHAVING LIKE SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT
Just stop trying to be something you’re not. You are you. With all the flaws, all of your strengths, bad sides, good sides, quirks, scars, skills, talents, wounds, powers. And that’s exactly what makes you different from all the other people in the world
Why would you want to neglect yourself?
6. STOP DWELLING ON THE PAST
The things that once happened to us, are long-gone and forgotten. In other words, the case is closed. Because regardless of what might have happened in the past, we can’t change that event. All you can do is change your perspective or focus on the present moment.
7. STOP WAITING FOR THE FUTURE TO COME
What lies ahead of us is unpredictable. The future is yet to come, and you can’t do anything to foresee it. The only thing you can do is to focus on this moment and hope for the best.
8. STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP FOR YOUR MISTAKES
Listen to me! Mistakes are not scary. They are an unnecessary part of learning the lesson. You can’t expect to reach greatness if you don’t fall in the gutter two or three times before that. If it weren’t for our mistake, we wouldn’t be the person we are today.
9. STOP SEEKING FOR YOUR HAPPINESS IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES
Happiness is an extraordinary feeling that can be found only within you. Nowhere else.
10. STOP TRYING TO BUY HAPPINESS
We are constantly lying to ourselves that the more we own of the material world, the happier we’ll be. But, the reality is different. The things that matter the most are the things that can’t be bought.
You just can’t put a price tag on happiness.
11. STOP BEHAVING IDLY AND TAKE MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS
If you continue waiting for things to magically happen or fall off the sky, you’ll be waiting your whole life. All the best things in life require action and undivided devotion.
12. STOP TRYING TO BE BETTER AT EVERYTHING
Life isn’t a competition. Other people’s success shouldn’t bother you or make you feel bad about yourself. We all have our own battles to fight. Concentrate on finding your own strength.
13. STOP BEING JEALOUS OF OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES
Stop wondering why the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence when you haven’t done anything to make your own grass grow. Instead of being envious, try to ask yourself, “What do I want?”
14. STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF
I get it, you are hurt. You’ve experienced pain. But, Oh…hey! News Flash?
So have everyone else around you. We’re all victims or rulers of our own destiny. It’s up to you to choose!
15. STOP HOLDING ONTO ANGER
Holding grudges is like eating a poisoned apple and expecting the other person to die. In the end, all the toxicity you digested from plotting your revenge, will destroy you and transform you into a bitter and miserable person.
16. STOP LOOKING FOR VALIDATION FROM OTHERS
Know your own worth. Don’t be afraid to stand on your own feet and defend your beliefs in life. Seeking approval from others will only give them a chance to mess up your life.
17. STOP IGNORING THE BEAUTY AND IMPORTANCE OF THOSE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE
Stop and take a moment of your every day life to enjoy those little things in life. You may not be aware, but beauty is everywhere around us. You just have to look.
18. STOP ACTING LIKE EVERYTHING IS GREAT WHEN IT CLEARLY ISN’T
It’s okay to be sad. It’s okay to be anxious. Depressed. Miserable. Idle. Tired. You shouldn’t put a mask on it and call it “I’m fine.” Don’t be afraid to express your feelings. Stop acting that you’re happy when you’re not.
19. STOP WORRYING FOR NO REASON
Most importantly, stop worrying about things that are clearly out of your control. There’s no point.
20. STOP TRYING TO PLEASE EVERYONE
Believe me when I say it… It is impossible. The more you give people, the more they take from you. So, stop wasting your energy and focus on your self-growth.
21. STOP BLAMING OTHER PEOPLE FOR YOUR FAILURES
It’s easier to put the blame on someone else, taking responsibility means stepping up and owning up to your mistakes.
But, the realization of your dreams depends only on your responsibility for your life. You can’t blame others for something that you should have done with your life.
