When you are the strong one who is always there to take care of everyone else… Well, you feel too much.
People rely on you for everything thinking that there is nothing in the world that could hurt you. They admire your strength and your determination in life. They look at you like you are some kind of immortal creature.
Meanwhile, you carry the whole world on your shoulders without showing a sign of weakness. Because everyone expects you to be strong for them. Everyone expects you to take it in, suck it up and move on. They expect you to always give, give and give.
They rarely think about what you need and what you want. What you deeply crave…
These people don’t bother to think about the fact that you also carry a heart within you. A heart that gets exhausted of giving without getting anything back. A heart that is torn to pieces from all that you’ve done for others. A heart that desperately needs to be taken care of. A heart that deserves to feel love and unconditional support.
But still… that doesn’t change the fact that you suffer… It doesn’t change the fact that even though you seem strong, deep down you hurt. My god, do you hurt.
You ache, hoping that someone will finally find you and give you the love that you give to others. You suffer, craving to be hugged and told that one day everything will be alright.
And when no one comes to the rescue, you do what you know best. You try to give yourself that nudge that you desperately need to get up on your feet. You convince yourself that you’ve done this many times before. That you don’t need anyone to take care of you and give you the shelter that you need. You convince yourself that you don’t need anyone else to help you or save you.
But you know what? You do… you desperately need to be saved.
And that is absolutely fine. There is no need to be ashamed of it…
Because no matter how strong you think you are, you are still a human being. The truth is, sometimes even the strongest people need someone to give them a hand and help them get on their feet. Sometimes even the strongest ones break to pieces.
The fact that you have so much that you want to give to people doesn’t make you invincible. The fact that you want to help others doesn’t mean that you don’t need rest. You do, my darling. You desperately do.
You need rest. You need time to reflect on yourself. You need to take care of yourself. You need to feel love.
Don’t ignore these cries for help.
You need to stop giving all of your energy away and invest some of it in yourself. You need to stop carrying all of that weight on your shoulders. You need to stop thinking that you can save everyone. Because you can’t.
You need to remind yourself that you are just a human being.
A human being who cannot always be the fixer.
A human being who needs help.
