Someone once said to me “If you genuinely love another human being, even if there were a billion reasons to let them go and leave, you should still find a way to look for that one special reason to stay.”
At that moment, that was the only thing that I needed to hear.
But that was exactly what helped me make the greatest mistake of my life.
I stayed when I shouldn’t have. I stayed when the warning signs told me to go.
So, here’s my advice. It’s all lies. Love means being unconditionally committed to another human being. Love means standing beside them and fighting every obstacle along the way. But, one thing that people forget to tell you… Love is not always enough to keep fighting that battle.
It takes two to tango and it takes two to make love happen. So, NO. Love doesn’t always mean fighting against all odds. Sometimes, love means leaving. For your own good.
For there is nothing pure and noble in fighting for a love that makes your heart ache.
If there’s something I know for sure is that love should inspire you to become the best version of yourself.
Love should allow you to bloom at your own pace. It should help you build your relationship and make you fly even higher. Love should give you the freedom to be exactly who you are.
It shouldn’t be difficult. It shouldn’t give you headaches. It shouldn’t make you feel afraid to fall asleep at night. It shouldn’t exhaust you. And it shouldn’t make you doubt yourself.
Love should just flow.
I am aware that relationships are not always about laughing and having fun. Just like everything else, there is a dark part of them. But when that dark part becomes an everyday thing and when the pain gets even unbearable, that is a sign that you are no longer fighting for love. Because let’s face it… If you were meant to be together, love wouldn’t have been that difficult. It would have flown freely, and you would have been happy.
So, I am sorry for being the bearer of bad news, but this one is for your own good. Don’t be afraid to give up on the love that makes you feel like you are not good enough. Don’t be afraid to spread your wings and fly far away from everything that makes you feel miserable.
Sometimes, love doesn’t deserve fighting. Because sometimes, love is simply not enough.
