8 Red Flags That Reveal Untrue Love In A Relationship

SHARE

You’ve been in a relationship with this great person for some time now and everything seems to be going well between you. Just like every other couple, you go through ups and downs in the relationship, but you two always find a way to solve whatever problem comes your way.

You feel comfortable and happy when you’re around that person, yet you still can’t tell for sure that you have finally found ‘The One.’

So, the question is: How do you know that you have fallen in love with the right person?

Well, recognizing whether you have found true love isn’t easy but it isn’t that difficult either. All you have to do is pay attention to the way your partner treats you. If they truly love you, you will always be able to feel the connection and spontaneity between you two.

And if this isn’t the case and if you can notice that your significant other has become judgmental and distant, then, I’m sorry, but the only answer is that the magic between you two is gone. Your love is not true.

Following are 8 red flags that reveal untrue love in a relationship:

1. They’re very judgmental.

If you’re constantly faced with judgment and harsh criticism in the relationship, you can take this as a clear sign that your partner is not interested in you. Nothing can destroy a relationship as easily as when you’re with someone who never bothers to show understanding and support you when you make a mistake or fail to achieve a goal.

So, if your partner often criticizes you for every mistake or bad decision you make, for every annoying habit you have, and for every imperfection in your character and/or physical appearance, well, you know the answer – your love is far from true.

2. Sometimes they seem to forget that you exist.

When you’re truly in love with someone, that person is always in your mind. They can be miles away from you, and yet you still think about them. So, how can you forget about a person if they’re always around? (Of course, this is just a rhetorical question).

It’s not like your partner has to take you to luxurious restaurants and buy you expensive presents so as to show that they know you’re there. Sending you a bouquet of your favorite flowers to your office or helping you with the chores once in a while can really show that they’re aware of your existence and that they truly care about you.

So, if this is something you rarely experience in your current relationship, know that your partner has more important priorities in their life than you.

3. They don’t read your mind.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that your partner needs to possess psychic powers so as to read your mind. But how can one enjoy a meaningful, deep relationship with someone to whom they don’t say: “Wow, babe, you definitely read my mind” from time to time?

Having such moments indicates that there’s a strong, deep connection between you and your significant other. It shows that just by looking into each other’s eyes, you can tell how you’re feeling and what is in your minds.

4. They never give you compliments.

When you truly love and care about someone, you want them to feel great, right? And one way to do that is to praise them and give them compliments.

Of course, when I say compliments, I’m referring to those that come straight from the heart. Telling your partner: “You look really beautiful in that dress/suit” or “I’m really proud of you for doing X” is just a simple way to let them know that they are important and special to you.

So, if you can’t remember when the last time was that your bae gave you a compliment, well, chances are they don’t feel about you the way you feel about them.

5. They make you feel insecure.

Do you often feel afraid when you try to complain about their behavior because you never know how they’ll react? Do you often feel afraid that you’ll say or do something stupid that will make them fly off the handle and take all their anger out on you?

Well, if you answered with a yes, you can be sure that your relationship is not based on mutual respect and understanding, let alone true love.

If your partner doesn’t show respect for your opinions, no matter how different they are from their own, and if they often make you fear their reaction, this is a sure sign that they’re not the right person for you and that you should consider whether you really want to continue being with them.

6. You often have to explain their actions to others.

“Why didn’t he/she call you when you were sick?” “Why does he/she always have to bring his/her friends along when the two of you go out for dinner?”

Well, if you’re often bombarded with these questions by your parents and friends and you keep on justifying your partner’s actions every time, then know that there’s definitely something wrong going on there.

If the person you’re with genuinely loves and cares about you, they’ll never put you in a position where you’ll have to reassure your friends and family that they’re the right person for you. Instead, they’ll be able to see that themselves.

7. They’re not invested in the relationship as much as you are.

It takes two to tango might sound like a cliché to you, but when it comes to romantic relationships, it’s always true. Because for a relationship to be healthy, strong, and happy, both partners need to ensure that there’s always an equal give-and-take in the relationship.

So, if you’re the only one who gets to plan all the dates and holidays or makes all the important decisions in your relationship, and your partner hardly ever bothers to help you with it, you can take this as a red flag that your relationship is not really their number one priority as it is for you.

8. They don’t consider you as a part of their future.

If you’ve been lately wondering why your significant other doesn’t talk to you about that big, white house you’re going to live in or about all those places in Europe you’re going to visit together one day, please, stop doing that right now.

When your partner doesn’t include you in their plans for the future and when they don’t imagine you being anywhere near them in their future, this is nothing else but an obvious sign that you two are not headed in the same direction.
