7 Fundamental Life Lessons Most People Take A Lifetime To Acknowledge

I can’t help but notice that nowadays more and more people tend to go through life without actually living it. We rush to get married and settle with kids, we desperately wait for the end of the week, for a holiday, for our paycheck. For our happiness.

And I’m not sure if you realized, but life is kind of short. Yeah, the average lifespan of a person might be 80 years, and that definitely sounds like an eternity.

But, time is passing us by quickly. The clock just keeps on ticking, and before you know it, there is no time left for anything.

That’s why I feel it is very important that we constantly remind ourselves to never take life for granted. There are some fundamental lessons in life that should never be forgotten because they determine our lives.

They are the most common laws of nature that hide the secret to eternal bliss.

Here we go!

1. LIVE IN THIS EXACT MOMENT

We get so caught up obsessing about something that once happened, or is about to happen, that we actually forget to live in this present moment. And when our time eventually runs out, we realize the only thing that matters is the NOW.

This second. This minute. This hour.

Remember, what’s done is gone, and what is about to come, cannot be foreseen. The only thing you have total control over is this exact moment.

2. A FAILURE IS JUST ANOTHER LESSON IN DISGUISE

Some of the most difficult and important lessons we learn in life are created by failures. The thing is – a mistake is not something you should be afraid of.

It means that you’re trying. It means that you’re brave enough to get out of your comfort zone and do the thing you wanted anyway.

You might have failed. But, it means that despite every obstacle, you picked yourself up and kept moving forward.

Learn to embrace failures, instead of fearing them. They help us grow.

3. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS LIVE FOR YOURSELF

And whatever you do, please remember: You have to live life your way.

Never let others discourage you from doing the things you truly love. Never let others project their negativity onto you. Never let others define or change your world.

Follow your heart. Follow your intuition. And whatever it is that you want to do, I say do it! This life is short enough anyway. You have to learn to live it for yourself.

4. WORK HARD, BUT NOT TOO HARD

Chase your dreams, work hard to reach your goals, but don’t you ever dare to jeopardize your life for the sake of your work.

I’ve heard a lot of regrets from people who literally spent their whole lives working and missed every single, meaningful part. They didn’t spend enough time with their family. They missed watching their kids grow. They barely visited their parents.

They completely missed out on life.

You have one life. Make sure to use it wisely.

5. PROCRASTINATION WILL MAKE YOU ITS PRISONER

It’s nice to cool off for a while and just do nothing, but if procrastination becomes your everyday activity, it will easily make you its slave.

And we all know from experience that the best period for procrastinating is usually when we’re the busiest.

Luckily, there’s a solution for everything. Instead of procrastinating, make a priority list and start fulfilling every chore or obligation you have to. Once you finish, the rest will be your well-deserved prize.

6. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

This phrase might be a cliché, but it is one of the most important laws you need to understand. Even though most of us know it, it can take a lifetime to actually acknowledge it.

Remember: Words are shallow. Actions are all that matters. You can promise one thing, but until you actually make an effort to do that same thing, your word has no power to provide security and certainty.

7. KINDNESS IS EVERYTHING

You know what they say… “Kind words will unlock an iron door”. And, if kind words have the power to do that, imagine what kind and thoughtful actions can make to a person.

A simple smile can go a long way. A helping hand can be everything a person needs. One kind word might not make a big difference in the world, but it’s a beginning.

The start of something new. A change. And starts with us!
