5 Things Narcissists And Psychopaths Always Do In A Conversation

SHARE

People with narcissistic or psychopathic characteristics almost always pretend to be someone they are not. They are great tailors of the perfect mask with which they will charm and lure others into their web of lies and manipulations.

From their body language to the way they talk to others – every conversation is perfectly crafted to dominate, test, and manipulate with the thoughts and feelings of other people.

Luckily, there are some clues that reveal them. Here are 5 things that every narcissist or a psychopath is doing during a conversation.

1. THEY CONFIDE IN YOU IMMEDIATELY.

They were abused by their parents when they were children. Their ex-wife took all their possessions, but they have succeeded to rebuild their fortune. They have a partner that they don’t love, but they can’t leave because their partner is emotionally unstable. Whatever they say, you should know that you are dealing with a psychopath when they start confiding in you before even knowing they can trust you.

They use this technique as a means to gain sympathy and intimacy from you. They want to impress you by feeling sorry for them so that you have no other choice but to trust them. The quicker they bond with you, the quicker they can start manipulating you.

2. THEY DELIBERATELY REPEAT “CONFIDENTIAL” INFORMATION THAT THEY PREVIOUSLY SHARED WITH YOU.

A narcissist or a psychopath will mention all the things they told you about themselves “in confidence” again and again because they may not even remember that they have shared their stories with you, having repeated them so many times to so many people.

Again, their lies are constantly repeated so they have become “truths” to them. Oftentimes, they lie for amusement. Other times they have an agenda. They can lie to anyone because people are interchangeable in their eyes and they see them only as tools for gaining what they want.

3. THEY DON’T ASK YOU ANY PERSONAL QUESTIONS.

If you feel weird when you end the conversation with them because you have learned everything about them and yet they haven’t asked you a single question about you, then you may be dealing with a narcissist or a psychopath.  This reveals their lack of interest in anyone but themselves.

On the other hand, if they bombard you with many questions and they shift quickly from one question to other, then they are trying to discover what your weaknesses are, so they can use them against you later.

4. THEY ASK FOR VERY SPECIAL FAVORS.

A narcissist or a psychopath often have “special favors” that they ask you for. While normal people ask favors out of genuine need, a psychopath asks for them because they have a sense of entitlement and importance. They use the term “special” deliberately to manipulate you into doing what they ask you for.

These “small” requests become more and more complex with time. They use this technique to accustom you into giving and doing always what they ask you to do.

5. THEY MAKE ODD STATEMENTS ABOUT YOU.

If you are talking about your friends, and they say something along the lines of “I understand, it may be so hard for them to accept that you are the smartest one,” especially if you’ve never characterized yourself as smart – then, that is a red flag.

Narcissists and psychopaths often make off-the-wall comments and statements about others to destabilize you or test you to see whether you will stand up for your friends and for yourself. Moreover, cruel statements about others or about you might reveal the sudden removal of their mask. So, pay attention.

Have you ever dealt with a person like this?
