So, you’ve hit 40.
Congratulations! You’ve now experienced and lived through the first half of your life. You’ve probably survived several heartbreaks, formed a family, learned how to raise your kids, became fearless and more assertive, took life by the balls and endured every challenge life gave you.
By now, you probably mastered them most essential life truths and turned them into action. But, if by any chance you haven’t, these are the most valuable things life teaches you once you’ve reached a certain point in life.
Read and take notes!
1. HOW TO DELEGATE
It’s essential to surround yourself with people who are loyal, have good judgement, an incredible value system and are smarter than you. Allow them to address you and make them feel comfortable enough to express their ideas and visions in front of you.
2. HOW TO ENJOY HAVING SEX
Sex is the gateway to a deeper connection with a person. But, sex, with all its splendour is also a fun, amusing and intense activity that needs to be kept fiery.
Don’t be afraid to add little spice to your love life. Your body will appreciate it. Your partner will appreciate it.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Make it perfect yourself.
3. HOW TO RECOGNIZE A GOOD LIFE OPPORTUNITY
When you’re weighing an opportunity, put yourself to a test. Would you do it for the money, or is it because you really want to work there?
Also, if there aren’t enough opportunities for you, get up and make your own. You can’t expect to sit around, wait and find a job that suits you best. You have to try your best until you finally achieve it.
No pain, no gain, right?
4. HOW TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH THOSE YOU LOVE
The more people grow older, the more they tend to focus on work, family, kids. Most of the people I know lost friendships after they got married and formed a family. The main reason? Lack of time.
But, the way I see it, it’s all a matter of priorities. You can find the time if you want to. After all, each and every one of us has the same 24 hours.
Even if it’s a simple text message like “How are you doing?” or a short phone call, it is still a meaningful gesture.
5. HOW TO AVOID SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF
Once you start thinking how vast the universe is, how limitless our possibilities are, how endless our opportunities are, how meaningful and short life is, it’ll become much clearer how important this present moment is. You’ll understand that wasting 2 hours of your life on a fight with your loved one is just not worth it.
6. HOW TO KEEP YOUR FRIENDS BUT ALSO MAKE NEW ONES
Don’t be afraid to be a part of the community. Whatever it is you enjoy doing, start doing it every day. Take a course. Do art. Start going to college. Get out of your comfort zone and let the world see you. Let the world meet you.
Establish contacts. Ask for an advice. Help people. Tell a person they look beautiful. Smile at a random stranger. Enjoy life.
7. HOW TO FORGIVE AND LOVE YOURSELF
It’s very important, to be honest with yourself. You have to find a way to be vulnerable on your own. Whatever your mistakes are, you need to forgive and promise yourself that you’ll do everything in your power to change what bothers you.
8. HOW TO SHARE A SECRET
It’s not easy to talk about something you’ve kept secret for years. But, it is comforting to know that whatever your secret is, there’s always someone out there who shares your pain or sorrow.
When you decide to open your heart, make sure you do it with a person who’ll understand the ways of your soul and won’t judge your amazing, peculiar nature.
9. HOW TO KNOW WHEN TO QUIT
Don’t be afraid to say NO. When something doesn’t feel right, have the courage to face it and walk away. Believe it or not, it’s all it takes. It’s that simple.
10. HOW TO ALWAYS LOOK REMARKABLE
Take care of your physical appearance the way you take care of your soul. Whether it’s a long, elegant dress, a formal suit, or a smart-casual outfit, make sure you always look on point.
A person’s style and appearance say a lot about them.
11. HOW TO BECOME A BETTER LISTENER
Whenever you catch yourself interrupting a person’s conversation, stop and think for a minute. Would you tolerate someone who doesn’t let you finish your own sentence and thereby doesn’t respect your opinion?
I thought so.
Then start listening to what people have to say. Don’t wait for them to finish, so you could reply. Instead, listen carefully and try to understand what is their message for you.
12. HOW TO ENJOY AND LAUGH AT LIFE
You can’t allow spending your life frowning at unfortunate events. I’m sorry, but if you thought life is going to be all sunshine and rainbows 24/7, you were wrong.
Life is unpredictable, and therefore, sometimes extremely brutal. So, the only way you can truly appreciate and cherish the good moments is by first experiencing the greyish, darker side of life.
