We exist in a critical and harsh society where our lives are constantly compared, judged, measured and ridiculed by others. We’re pressured to fit in the system, to keep it low key, and become just another brick in the wall.
A nobody.
And more than often, we do it. We let the masses lead our way. We unplug our mind, shut down our heart and we start doing what is socially acceptable. The fear of ending up as a social pariah, being condemned and judged for who we are is forcing us to succumb to its pressure and be ashamed of our true colors.
Now, even though this is something that has happened to all of us, it is important to know that there are ways to free yourself from it.
Once you realize that only you and your actions are stopping you from truly living your life, everything will change. You have to understand that it is you, the human who takes away your own right to breathe freely.
You are your only obstacle.
When you master the art of loving yourself and stop feeling embarrassed about these 11 things in life, that’s the exact moment when you’ll finally start to breathe!
1. YOUR BODY
The perfect body doesn’t exist. It’s all a part of the vicious marketing tricks big companies use so they can sell you their slimline products, fit teas, weight loss pills and their suspicious calorie-burning supplements.
Don’t you ever let the bullies grind you down. Love yourself with all of your imperfections. Your body is your temple. Nourish it, explore it, take care of it, but more importantly respect it.
2. WHAT YOU EAT
People will always be rude. So, you might as well just adapt to the ignorant comments and continue doing what you feel like doing.
Don’t let anyone shame you for what you eat or how much you’re eating. Appreciate people’s advice about what’s good for you, but never let them make you feel embarrassed for having a second slice of that delicious cake.
Whether it’s cheat day, cheat week, cheat month or cheat year, you’re allowed to do whatever the hell you want. Your body, your choices.
3. WHO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME WITH
Sometimes people are very quick to judge and tell you who is right for you and who isn’t. Most of them out there think that their opinion is what matters the most.
Don’t you ever allow anyone to do this to you. You decide who you want to be with. Your close friends and family are your whole life to you.
4. TAKING TIME FOR SELF-CARE
Nope, it’s not selfish. It’s called self-love, look it up. There’s nothing wrong with taking time for yourself. Enjoying your solitude and recharging are not things that you should be embarrassed about. Enjoy your life the way you want it.
5. WHAT DO YOU WORK FOR A LIVING
We’re all destined to do something. We all have different purposes on Earth. But, the fact that you don’t work a prestigious work doesn’t make you a less of a person. Never let others shame you for your hard work.
Remember, you work and earn for a living. You provide for yourself and your family. That is admirable.
6. PAST MISTAKES
We’ve all made mistakes. But, these past experiences are just parts of our lives, they are our stepping stones. People shouldn’t shame us for our past mistakes, they shouldn’t judge the book by its cover.
Never let them throw that in your face. No matter how painful your past was, there’s always a chance for a happy, new start.
7. BEING YOUR FLAWED, BEAUTIFUL SELF
There’s nothing wrong with being different. To hell with all the conformist rules and the mainstream ways of life. Be your flawed, beautiful, incredible self. Embrace your peculiar soul and be grateful for who you are.
And remember. People hate “the different ones” because they fear the unknown.
8. EXPRESSING YOUR FEELINGS
Expressing your innermost feelings means that you’re alive. It reveals that you have a fragile heart capable of loving. It shows that you have a beautiful soul and you’re not afraid to open up to people. Don’t you ever feel ashamed of that.
Being vulnerable in a society like this is a strength, not a weakness.
9. LOOKING AT THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
People will hate everything you do. No matter how optimistic you are, they will always find a way to rain on your parade. But, the important thing is to never let their negative comments affect you. Believe in everything you do and keep walking down the path that you chose for yourself.
10. FAILING
Don’t you ever let others mock you and call you a failure. Anyone who shames you for making an effort and failing is a coward. They don’t even know how hard you struggled to get there. They don’t even know that with every step you take, you’re making a progress.
So, don’t let them be the judge of you. Fall 7 times if you need to, but stand up 8. Don’t give up on yourself!
11. FORGIVING
You’re not a naïve, or a stupid person if you forgive someone who wronged you. You are not reserved, or afraid if you choose to avoid revenge and forgive instead. For what is worth, you are more mature than those people.
The final goal is to live a happy and peaceful life. So, don’t let anyone refrain you from achieving that.
