You’d think that people would only ever be attracted to someone who’s good for them. Likewise, you’d think that a good, kind person would only ever want to be with someone equally compassionate. However, we already know that life doesn’t always work out that way. Sadly, people become interested in the wrong people all the time.
Sometimes, relationships form that make absolutely no sense to people on the outside who are looking in. Although it may seem unusual, the attraction between a narcissist and an empath is intense, but it’s also completely toxic.
Opposites Attract
Empaths are the healers of the world. Their innate kindness comes from their ability to understand others as well as from their sensitivity to energy. Likewise, they have the outstanding ability to internalize other people’s emotions. However, this also means that they feel other people’s pain as well as their joy. Because of that, they will do whatever they can to help and protect others.
If empaths had a polar opposite, it would be narcissists. These are people who would never think to care for others since they’re far too worried about themselves. All they care about is self-preservation and reaching their own goals. Sadly, they completely lack empathy too. So, they’ll hurt anyone to get what they want and won’t feel any remorse for it.
When an empath comes across a narcissist, their compassion can become their downfall. All they’ll want to do is help the narcissist, even if it hurts them in the process. They can become completely blind to the fact that the narcissist is sucking all the energy from them like a vampire. Because of that, the attraction between these two is completely destructive in nature.
They’re Playing With Fire
These two people can have such an intense attraction between them that it can be hard to fathom. Although it’s strong, it’s also enormously poisonous. If they choose to enter into a relationship, it will be a huge mistake for everyone involved, especially for the empath. That is not the kind of dynamic that can be sustained. In truth, it will only ever end in disaster.
Since the empath wants nothing more than to heal people, the narcissist will use that against them. They will take everything from them until there’s nothing left to take. They’ll manipulate them, abuse them, and destroy their happiness. Once the narcissist has bled the empath completely dry, they’ll leave in search of another victim.
The empath in this situation will be left with nothing. They will lose not only the person that they loved, but also their joy, their power, and their hope. Likewise, they will become completely physically, mentally, and spiritually drained. That’s the destructive power that a narcissist has, and that’s why these two can never really be together.
When an empath loves a narcissist, they’re fighting a losing battle. Although they may want to see the good in their partner, there is no good to see. Truly, this malicious, toxic person will only ever use the empath for their own gain. That’s not the kind of relationship anyone should be in, no matter how strong their attraction may be.
