It’s not unusual to see different fish and aquatic mammals leaping out of the water. We see it all the time with Dolphins, as well as with sharks sometimes too. Despite this, those were about the biggest creatures that we’d normally get to watch carry out this feat. However, that’s changed now.
As it turns out, humpback whales are also fond of seeing what life is like outside of the ocean, and the results are awe-inspiring. People are stunned by this video of a 40-ton whale jumping out of the ocean.
By now, we’ve all seen the shot of an orca flying out of the water in the movie Free Willy. Orcas, however, are quite a bit smaller than humpback whales. Whereas they can grow to up to 5,400 kg, humpbacks can grow to a whopping 36,000 kg. That’s why having one of them jump out of the sea is a very rare event.
According to Craig Capehart, the man who captured this amazing moment, this is the first time that an adult humpback whale has been videoed leaping completely out of the water.
