It’s perfectly fine to be afraid of what comes next in life. Of your next step. Of your future.
It is perfectly okay to not know where you’re going, what’s going to happen tomorrow, or how you’ll feel in two days. The truth is, you will never know these things, no matter how you try. You will never have the power to predict the future and know for sure that your decision is one-hundred-percent right.
I am sorry, but that’s life. You spend some of it trying hard to control some things, fail at doing that, and then just give up completely and let life flow and take you with it…
It’s okay to be scared of the future. Just remember that in those moments, the best thing you can do is remind yourself that the present matters more. Yes, it is true, you can never predict what is going to happen tomorrow. Nor you can predict if the decision you’ve made will help you achieve what you’ve always desired. In difficult moments like these, the most important thing is to listen to your inner voice and follow your heart. For that might not be the safest way, but it is always the right way.
It’s okay to be afraid of your future, but it’s not okay to waste your days worrying about it. In moments like those, remind yourself that the only thing you can really control is the present moment. What you do or don’t do in this exact moment. What happens now. That’s the only thing that it’s in your hands. It doesn’t matter how big your steps are as long as you are focusing on this moment. Because investing in this present moment always pays off in the future. You just wait and see.
So, next time thinking about your future makes you anxious and scares the hell out of you, remind yourself of the past. You’ve made millions of mistakes and yet, here you are. Alive and well. Dreaming with your eyes wide open. Making new plans. Moving forward. Growing. Learning. Existing. Thriving.
You’ve done it. You’ve been through hell and you’ve survived. What makes you think that you won’t be able to survive whatever else life has in store for you?
You can and you will overcome anything that life challenges you with. You just have to believe in yourself. You have to have faith that you can do anything that you put your mind to. After all, no one in life has everything figured out. Not even those that look like they have it all under control. Trust me, they don’t. They too are fighting a battle. A battle that you know nothing about. A battle that only proves that they too are human with feelings. Just like you. Just like anybody else.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is… Don’t let your future plans and big dreams rob you of your happiness. You will never know what tomorrow might bring. Let it surprise you.
Stop focusing all of your energy towards the future and remind yourself that you only have now.
