It doesn’t really matter what you do or how hard you try to make things work…
You can’t expect a toxic person to understand you or give a damn about your feelings. Toxic people will never ever validate your emotions and appreciate your efforts. You can put your entire heart and soul in a relationship and they still won’t notice you. You can go out on a limb with your feelings and let them know that you’ll always be there for them, but the only thing they’ll do is use you.
Make no mistake.
Toxic people will always bring you down in order to lift themselves up.
So, don’t waste your time believing a word they say.
Toxic people will guilt trip you. Mercilessly. Viciously. Without giving a damn how you may feel. They will refuse to believe you and listen to your arguments. They will hurt you and then they’ll find a way to put all the blame on you. No matter how effort you put to make things right, you’ll never be powerful enough to satisfy a toxic person. They’ll always be greedy for more.
Toxic people will make you lose your sense of self. They will make you feel worthless. Like a complete nobody. Like you aren’t worth their time. Like you aren’t good enough for them. Like you aren’t worth their ‘love’. As if they have something real to give you. As if they are the best thing that ever happened to you.
Toxic people will make you go out of your mind. Even worse, they will make you sound crazy. Like you’ve lost all sense of reality. Like you’re overreacting for no reason. Like you can’t control your mouth. And my personal “favorite” – Like you are too emotional. Know this. You are not. Convincing you of the opposite is their own method of taking things under control.
Toxic people will make you feel insecure. They will make you doubt yourself. Your abilities. Your strengths. Your emotions. Your work. Your actions. Your decisions. Your path in life. Your values.
Toxic people will make you jealous. They won’t bother to let you know how they feel about you. They’ll leave it all to you. What’s worse they’ll make you compete with every person that crosses paths with them. Toxic people will get under your skin and once they have you in the palm of their hands, they’ll make you do anything. Even the things you’ve never imagined doing.
So be careful. For this isn’t and it never will be love.
