Everyone in life needs a solid security system. And when I say, “solid security system” I mean both financial and emotional.
It’s nice to have someone to depend on and someone you can trust both your life and your emotions, but it also a risky thing to do.
Whether you’re in a romantic relationship or comfortably settled in a marriage, you should always make sure to have your own backup plan. You shouldn’t allow anyone to interfere with your plans and sabotage your finances.
That’s why you need a strong and well-built fuck-off fund. To those who have no clue what a fuck-off fund is, it’s a fund which allows a person to leave a relationship in a blink of an eye without depending on their partner.
Here’s why I have one and why all of you should have one too:
1. YOU SHOULD NEVER EXPECT FOR A PERSON TO SUPPORT YOU
While having a person who can be your occasional safety net, self-care and self-support is something all of us should master by the age of 18.
When you agree to share all of your savings with your partner, you become dependent and easy to manipulate. Luckily, having a fuck-off fund gives you the power to control your life, your choices as well as your finances.
2. YOU CAN’T PREDICT THE FUTURE OUTCOME
You can never know what the future has in store for you. What looks like a “happily ever after” might eventually turn into the worst nightmare of your life. And that’s exactly when your fuck-off fund might come in handy.
Remember, the money you earn, are your finances. They should be used the way you intend to, for things you want and plans you made.
So, when it comes to relationships and saying yes to sharing a life with another partner, you shouldn’t present all of your finances on a silver platter. You should instead develop a strategy for creating a budget that would be funded by yours and their money.
Anything out of the budget should be off-limits for both of you.
3. MONEY ARE POWER, AND PEOPLE KNOW THIS
Especially greedy narcissists who live off weak and insecure victims.
Have you ever wondered why emotional psychopaths and manipulators don’t like it when someone is more successful and independent than them?
It makes it more difficult for them to lure you in and manipulate you. For example, when a woman isn’t dependent on a guy, and has her own resources, fights to catch more opportunities and has her incomes, he can’t do anything to control her.
That’s why you should always have your fuck-off fund. Who knows what tomorrow might bring?
4. HAVING YOUR OWN SOURCE OF INCOME AND YOUR OWN CAREER WILL GET YOU TO THINK MORE OBJECTIVELY
Money is a serious issue. When you don’t have much money, you often ignore every caution sign in the relationship and choose to stay out of convenience.
But, when you are an independent human being who works hard and makes enough money for a decent life, you’re way more likely to leave a toxic relationship if someone just doesn’t meet your standards.
5. AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT’S THE SMARTEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOURSELF
Being able to completely rely on yourself, or having a safety net, in other words, a fuck-off fund is the smartest thing you can do for yourself.
You should never ever allow to fully depend on another human being. Both your life and your finances should be your responsibility.
The bigger the fund you keep building for yourself, the more independent and self-sufficient you are.
